In this video we demonstrate the importance and the technique to distributing your coffee grinds before tamping to ensure an even extraction and a better tasting coffee.
What you will need
- Dose your freshly ground coffee into your portafilter Tip- Using scales will ensure a consistent dose every time.
- Distribute your coffee evenly throughout your filter basket using your chosen method
- North, south, east, west
- 360 degree rotation
Tip - Ensure you are not pushing down on the grinds, just move them to fill in any gaps
- Once the coffee bed is flat, you are now ready to tamp.
